The man in me



There's some things I want you to know I'm not yet quite sure but I'll explain as I go There was something you said the other day When you misunderstood what I was trying to say You think I'm together and sussed That casual affairs and a laugh is enough But you only know one side of me Well it's not real what you see That's just the man in me I might be loud and I swear and the way I wear my hair and I don't wear skirts Doesn't mean I don't get hurt I might not act a girlie way That doesn't mean to say I'm gay But there's another side of me that you should know You think that I'm cool 'cos I'm one of the boys That's one side of me that gets heard above the noise There was something you did just the other day When you let me walk home in the dark all the way I hate to be merely a meek In fear that I won't get taken seriously But you only know one side of me Well it's not real what you see That's just the man in me I might be wild and I drink and I'm tough and strong I think and I don't wear heels Doesn't mean that I don't feel I might not try to be naive 'Cos doesn't vulnerable mean weak and doesn't weak mean independence has to go? I might be hard, I play to win That doesn't mean I won't give in But there's another side of me that you should know I see you're confused I can tell The look in your eyes says you don't know me so well But you only know one side of me That I've let you see That's just the man in me That's just the man in me.
